End of the School Year

The month of May has been crazy busy with the end of school and Maggie starting softball!  We had all the regular end of the year things, plus our annual Night at the Museum at school.  This year's theme was Boston because we went to Boston last summer.  Since I went on the trip, I was in charge of helping run the Night at the Museum event this year.  This was the first time we've ever done it the last week of school, too.  Unfortunately, I had to work the event, and Rob had to work that night, so we didn't get to take Maggie around to all the rooms.  Luckily, she went around with one of my co-worker's older daughters, but I wasn't able to get any pictures.  Maggie had a great time going around to each room until later that night she came back to my room and didn't feel well.   She literally just sat at my desk, wouldn't eat anything, and ended up running a temperature.  We left the event and headed to the clinic that was open until 8:00.  We just made it, too.  By the time we got there, Maggie had a temp. of 101 and an ear infection.  We got some prescriptions filled and headed home.  Poor thing was miserable and wanted me to carry her everywhere.  Needless to say, since she had a temperature that night, she couldn't go to school the next day, the last day of school.  She was heartbroken at first, but felt better when I told her we were just going around to all the rooms again to see their Night at the Museum stuff and that Rob was going to come up to the all-school picnic at 11:00, eat with her, and take her home after anyway.  I was sad for her that she wouldn't get to spend the last day of school with her friends, classmates and teachers (Mrs. Pitzer, her long-term sub and Mrs. Gerken, who was coming in for the last day).  Luckily, Rob was off and could stay at home with her since I couldn't miss the last day with my kiddos.  This year flew by!  I had a wonderful class that I grew very attached to.  Plus, Maggie will be moving up to second grade next year, which is hard to believe.  She had a fantastic year, too, and I will miss her being in the same hall as me next year.  Thank goodness I still have one more year with her at the same school! :)
