Good-bye June...Hello July!
Whew, June was great, but I'll be glad to have some down time in July! Maggie will finish swim lessons tomorrow, I had my last day of tutoring today, Maggie finished softball this weekend, we got back from Seattle last week, I traveled to Hutchinson and got my grants last week, Maggie had a week of VBS, and my parents got all moved into their new house. Now it's time for the summer to officially begin and for me to relax and enjoy it!!!!
Maggie's Softball Team
Maggie finished up softball this weekend with her tournament. The girls have come so far this season and have improved so much. It's been great to see! We had great coaches, great teammates/friends, and great families. The team did not win all the time, but I could not have asked for a better experience for Maggie. Her coaches taught her how to play hard, never give up, and how to always display good sportsmanship, even when others did not. So proud of these girls!
GO PIRATES!!!!!
Seattle Trip June 2014
Seattle was wonderful! We had a great time and beautiful weather, too. It never rained until the day we left and it was 70's the whole time! We flew in on Thursday. Our connecting flight was delayed, so we got in later than expected. We didn't end up doing anything that night other than getting checked into the hotel and getting dinner. On Friday, we went to the Museum of Flight. It was Bob's highlight of the trip, but not so much for the rest of us! :) The rest of us did think it was pretty neat to tour an Air Force One that was used for Kennedy, Johnson, Ford, and Carter though. We also went to visit the University of Washington campus, the Washington Park Arboretum and to Kirkland, a small town outside of Seattle. It had a downtown area with shops and restaurants and a small beach/boating area. It was beautiful!
On Saturday, we headed down to Pike's Place Market. We got to see the Pike Place Fish Co. throw some fish, too! We went out on a Harbor Cruise, ate lunch at a restaurant on a dock right on the water, went to the Seattle Aquarium, and up in the Space Needle.

On Sunday, we went to church and spent the day at the Woodland Park Zoo.

We saved the best for last though! On Monday, we drove to Mount Rainier. It was about a 2 hour drive, but totally worth it! We could drive about 18 miles up the mountain, with many overlooks along the way to stop and take pictures. The further we got up, the more beautiful the views were and the steeper the drop-offs!! We got up to about 5400 feet and played in the snow! Tall evergreen trees lined the drive the entire way up, too.

She Always Makes Me Laugh
Got done with Maggie's swim lessons today and she's cold because it's rainy and chilly out. We get in the car and she says, "Turn the heat up, bronto!" I love the way she's always so close to using the right word, but it's so much cuter her way!
