Family Reading Night

They had a Family Reading Night at my school tonight that I took Maggie to. We got to read 4 different books and do fun activities with each one. Maggie especially liked getting her face painted like a puppy and getting to make a rootbeer float! Here's a pic of our cute, little pup:

This is her saying "cheese"!

First Dentist Appt.

Maggie had her first dentist appt. today and she did fantastic! The people were great, too. They really took the time to make Maggie feel comfortable by showing her each tool/instrument and what it did before they even did anything. Dr. Cobb was phenomenal, too! He said Maggie's teeth looked great so we will go back in 6 months for her next cleaning and checkup. She even got to pick out 3 toys (a frog pencil, a Mickey Mouse sticker, and a toy seal). Here are some photos from the visit:

Emporia Visit

Rob, Maggie, and I drove down to Emporia last night to visit Uncle Jim and Joe. We had a great time seeing our old stomping grounds, hanging out, and swimming in our hotel pool! I think that was definitely Maggie's favorite part anyway! She also liked when we went shopping and found some cute, new clothes and a sleeping bag for her birthday.
Maggie said she was practicing her swimming while she waited for us to get ready!

So cold after swimming, she needed 3 towels!

Quality Time with Nana and Papa

Maggie got to hang out with Nana and Papa on Saturday night since Rob was working and I went out with the girls for Christiana's bachelorette party. It was great that she got some Nana and Papa time in since they are headed to Vegas for the week for Uncle Brett and Christiana's wedding. She was passed out in the bed with Nana by the time I came to pick her up, too!

Speech Screening

We had Maggie's speech screened on Friday because we've noticed she's leaving off beginning s sounds (ie. snake is nake), and substituting the p sound for a beginning f sound (ie. fish is pish). Luckily, she is really good about repeating it correctly after we say something and she doesn't get frustrated with us, but she is not really initiating the correct way on her own. Well, she ended up qualifying for speech. In April, we will meet to sign her speech IEP, and once she turns 3 on April 14th, she will start receiving speech services (most likely once a week for 30 minutes). She will go to speech for April and May until school gets out for the summer and then pick back up with it in August when school starts. Let me just say, it was really difficult for me to be on the other side of things for a change. I knew Maggie was making these errors/substitutions, that's why we wanted her screened. I also knew that this is the best thing for her, but it was hard being the parent of the child on an IEP vs. the teacher.

Endocrinology Appt.

Maggie's endocrinology appt. went GREAT today!! Her doctor was very pleased with her growth since her last appt. in November, didn't feel drawing labs was necessary since she's growing so well, and said we don't have to go back for a year now. Maggie went from the 5th to the 10th percentile in height (since Nov.). She is now 89cm. (about 2'11") and weighs about 25-26 pounds. Such good news since last time they were talking about maybe having to start her on growth hormones. Even better, we were out of there in record time...in only an hour!

Shrimp and BINGO

Last night, Rob, Maggie and I met up with Grandma and Grandpa Jacobs, Grandma and Grandpa Smith, and Uncle Brett and Christiana for a shrimp dinner and BINGO night. Maggie was so excited to see everyone, but was especially pumped about the BINGO part. She absolutely loved marking the cards!
